Gutenberg

A printing press for the web. It takes digital artefacts, and turns them into printable (or e-readable) objects.

How it works

Web pages

This works best for articles or blog posts. If it looks good in Safari/Firefox's "reader" mode, it'll print well in this tool. Append the URL you want to print onto the end of the Gutenberg domain. The tool works the same as archive.md. Example: /gutenberg/web/https://usefulfictions.substack.com/p/how-to-be-more-agentic.

Markdown

Enter Markdown or plain text and Gutenberg will format it for clean printing.

Save as Epub

The Kobo e-readers support Instapaper for read later functionality of web pages. I personally don't want to pay for Instapaper. But it would be nice to be able to read articles on my e-reader - it's easier on the eyes and mind than my phone. I built this feature to be able to convert web pages into the epub standard so I could load them onto my e-reader.

I'll probably add support for saving markdown as an epub shortly, because that feels like something I could use.
